‘They work, when many of us dream!’

Description

Digha beach on the Bay of Bengal, West Bengal, India

Before dawn, when many of us are asleep, or even may be dreaming, these men work hard for the day’s catch. What starts as a straight long line of net in the sea, is gradually pulled from the ends to form a big circle, which eventually becomes smaller and smaller, until it is pulled up ashore. The whole operation lasts for hours, and needs a lot of team effort, that too in near darkness, apart from sheer hard work. Once the catch is sorted out, they must get it in time to the market, to make a decent sale.
