‘Howrah Bridge’ - when commissioned in 1943, it was the 3rd-longest suspension cantilever bridge in the world, connecting Kolkata with the city of Howrah. It carries over 100,000 vehicles and 150,000+ pedestrians on the daily basis. The bridge has been renamed ‘Rabindra Setu’ after the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore, who was the first Indian and Asian Nobel laureate.
