Early morning Sun worship (heliolatry) by a Hindu devotee, in the river Ganges, India. The history of Sun worship seemed to be as old as the mankind itself. They worshiped the Sun as the ultimate source of energy that provided life and energy to themselves and everything around. All ancient cultures seemed to worship the Sun, including the ancient Egyptians, the Indo-Europeans, the Romans, and the native Americans. In Hinduism, the God Surya represented the Sun.
